Most Satin Bowerbirds you see are green. These green birds are females and immature males. The adult male blue-black plumage is only acquired after seven years.

Now that is one interesting eye color! Great pose, too. I would give it more room, especially top and right. Maybe you could have gone to ISO 400 in order to be able to stop down more for wider DOF.

While I am not a big fan of bird's on the forest floor, you have done really well here. I am fine with the d-o-f, my eyes riveted to the bird's eye and the patterning on the upper breast. Later and love and thanks for sharing, artie

Great shot, Simon. Well isolated against the BG. I really like the blue eye and the blue on the beak. I might be tempted to blur and desaturate slightly the green grass on the right foreground.

Only more room at right would make this better. What an awesome looking bird!

Fantastic eye and beautifully patterned breast feathers. Not easy to get a good exposure when taken in dimly lit forests, so you did well with this shot.

    Hey Simon,

Great image...aren't those eyes awesome! Agree that a little more room on the right would put this one over the top. Great work.
