    Default Ripples anyone?

    Attached Images Attached Images

I took the photo Sunday on a boat ride up the river. I have never seen ripples like these, with the coot right in them. Topaz Adjust and PB twirl to add some OOTB interest. I masked the coot back in so it wouldn't be distorted.

This is the original image with a little Topaz Adjust for colors. Canon 50D and 100 - 400 lens.

This is pretty cool. Those ripples are unbelievable. Since you masked the coot back in I may consider just moving it slightly up or down so the ripple is not directly intersecting it head. TFS

Judy, this is very cool. I've never seen ripples like that either. I love the combination of blues and browns.:)

The original is really different, like what you've done with it. Nice colors and good job masking and pasting in the coot...

Thanks Nick and Cheryl. Nick, I see your point about the ripple, but moving the coot would not be easy so I probably won't attempt it. Masking just required painting over it and a tiny bit of cloning as it was pretty much lined up with the original. I might see if I can work with the ripple if I have time.

Very nice, Judy. Beautiful colors and I like how you used PB twirl for the effect. Excellent OOTB thinking!

The original is wicked, the twirl treatment was a stroke of genius. I just love it. So bold and the patterns are absurdly wonderful. I marvel at the great creativity of the folks posting here (and of course that of your fearless leader, Denise.)

For the Pane #1 image I would love to see a bit more on the bottom if you have it; note the clipped light blue swirl just in front of the bird along the lower frame edge.

Judy, Fantastic image and Nick and Artie have made 2 points that would take this over the top. Very creative and the colors are to die for!!:)

    Hi Judy,
Great use of the PB twirl filter. I really like how you used it & it's very creative on your part. The colors and the pano crop are very nice. I think if you take your original and remove the wave line from the Coots head and then play with the filter settings it might make it a bit simpler to do. You will still have to do some touch up work, but I think it deserves the effort.

Judy, I would be ecstatic to have the original capture show up in my LCD! That is really amazing. The PP just took it to another place. I like this a big bunch. Might be easy to eliminate that one blue ripple by just painting it brown and re-applying the filter. Super work on both images! :D

Wow, thanks everyone who commented on the coot twirl! I am trying to figure out how to fix it. To clarify, are you all referring to the line by it's beak or in the reflection? Thanks for all the suggestions. I just want to hopefully do it once and fix everything.

    Hi Judy,

Love the effect, but even the original is very cool.

Judy, Greetings. Just wanted to agree with how cool this is! The orginal, too! I think these are the two items Nick and Artie are referring to: Head intersection with ripple and clipped light blue ripple on bottom.

Hopefully, Nick and/or Artie will chime in if I've got that wrong...

    Cheers,

OK thanks Michael. Someone said something about painting it brown and that didn't make sense unless talking about the reflection. I'll see if I can move the ripple or coot. Time is scarce this week.

Thanks Michael, I am OK with the bill merge but your lower arrow hit the spot so to speak :)
