This is from a while ago taken off hwy 1... found this pair of Heermann's gull on the beach shortly after a brief spell of rain. For pp, cropped and applied adjustment layers for levels, saturation and selective colors. Copied layer, used Topaz simplify and added layer mask. Added another adjustment layer for b/w and changed opacity a bit. painted with black on each layer to create this effect. Hope you like it.

Indranil, I like the processing you applied and the mirrored gulls. Maybe just a tiny bit more room on top and a little less on the bottom so it doesn't appear top heavy? I'm only talking about a tiny bit because I like the feeling you created with this crop -that they are out in the distance. Let's see what others say.

    Indranil,

Greetings. I like the pairing of the two gulls, but the differences in color I find a bit odd. Perhaps, it isn't OOTB enough for me to not think of the differences in cast as an error?

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I like the look you created with your processing of this image. Agree with Denise on the crop suggestion. Otherwise, I like this one.

Indranil, I really like the front gull...the color of the bill, rosy tone to the body...Well done

Love the feel of this one and the identical poses of the gulls. The composition looks just fine to me as is. Like Michael, I'm wondering about the color difference of the gulls. Was it the lighting at the time?

Indranil, I like the difference in the gulls and the almost monochromatic colors except for the gull in the foreground.:)

Thanks all for the feedback. Appreciate it a lot. The color difference in the gull is on purpose. I used bw adjustment layer and then used layer mask to bring back color of the front gull. Michael's comment made me to think if there is an alternate way of looking at it... so here is another version where both gulls are in color and also the alternate crop Denise suggested.
