Here's one more "old" Civil War portrait from the reenactment. This Union artillery captain was happy to pose for me. It took me forever to find the right combination of textures and toning for this one, but I think I'm finally happy with it.

I cloned out a tent pole and some trees to get a clean BG and then did my usual aging process, converting the image to B&W and then adding textures and various adjustment layers. I used four of my own textures, one Flypaper texture, and the following two textures from Shadowhouse Creations:"Revenant" and "Art Grunge-4."

Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated!

Hi Christopher, another nice job with an interesting subject. Very different head angle but it works for me...

This is definitely my favorite so far, Christopher! I love the tilt of the head and the glasses against the hat rim.

Have any of the 'soldiers' seen these final images? I bet they'd love to have a copy!

Thanks very much, Dave, Jules, and Hazel. I appreciate the comments!

No, Jules, I haven't, though the thought has crossed my mind that the reenactors might really like my images. It might possibly make a nice side business. :)

Chris, if you don't have time to gather all their information, hand them a business card with your email address and a link to your website (if you have one) where they can go in and take a look at the images. Then if they want to order one they have your contact information!
