Default Practice with my new 500mm

Hi all. I just got my dream lens, a Nikon 500 f4 AFSII, thanks to Jim Fenton and have been practicing with it at Viera, attached to my D300. Also, with this least bittern I used that new Nik software Viveza to brighten up the chest area, toning down the whites. Thanks for looking and any comments are most welcomed.:) f7.1, 1/2000, iso 500, matrix metering with the nikon 1.4TC, -.67ec

Excuse me while I wipe the drool of envy off my chin, so that it doesn't drip onto the computer.

    Ok, now I can type.

I luv the way you have the bird up on the reeds, just above the water. Great pose.

I would ask you how you like the new lens, but why don't I save time and just poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

Thanks so much Lance:)! I sat and waited for him to come out enough. It must have been an hour. They are devils about hiding in those darn reeds. And the lens, well, I LOVE IT!!! I just wonder why I did not get it earlier in my life.

A classic Least Bittern pose. Very nice, always love the water reflection on the reeds.

That is Orlandito at Viera!!!!! He was less shy last year, maybe by the Summer he'll feel like coming out more.

Congrats on you new lens, Nancy, you'll get a lot of pleasure from it!

The chest could take some more toning down, in my opinion.
Hope to meet you soon out there :)

Thanks all for the kind comments.:)

Fabs, I will look at the whites when I get home on my proper monitor. I am always changing my mind with the white on images like this. I PP them, then might go back a day later and change them.

And Arthur, I do not have the 1.7 yet:eek:! I guess images like this make a good case to get one.:) Also, lots of nice reeds with little garbage around, which seems to be hard to get.
