I like like that you got him in front of the dust which softened the BG a lot. Tongue is a big plus.
I don't find this image too bright based upon the color of the FG grasses and the dust storm. I love the comp, the pose and the tongue is a huge plus. The FG grasses really enhance this image and the remnants of th dust, as well as grasses on the bison, really tell a nice story here.
The dust really makes it Denise, but agree, it is 'bright'. Just wondered, but if you were planning to revisit the original and output, but is also worth looking at it as a rich quad tone, as the amount of colour isn't huge and it might give it a twist?
Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Dusty winter coat. Very well done Denise. Great exposure and details.
Thanks folks, I appreciate the comments.
Steve, Please feel free to re post with your idea-I'd love to see it.:)
Love the dusty look. As the others have said the dust has given you a great BG here and the tongue is a bonus.
Denise - I agree with the other comments. The dust makes a pleasing bg, like the comp and the tongue is a plus.

Rachel
Like the tongue and the dust makes a nice clean background. Like the vert. crop as well.
I quite like this as posted, because the dust most probably would have lightened the fur.
But I look forward to seeing the repost.
Steve, what is a rich quad tone?
Denise, I agree with your self-critique but the composition works for me. I find the matted hair really interesting and also the way the horns are so well tucked in. Don't know much about bison, but I can almost smell this one … dust, that musky hair smell they have and I like the fact that you can see the eyes, even though they are small and the head is a dark colour.
Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate them.:)
The word "Organic" came to my mind when I saw this image, Denise. So raw and natural looking, I like this image tremendously and have nothing but positives to say about it. The stuff in the foreground is bright but it so perfectly frames that wonderful face.
Grace, Thank you for your kind comments.
I have a question for you: Your gull image that won 2nd place for Image of the Year on BPN- Where was that taken? I was guessing Nickerson and Artie was guessing Barnegat.:)
Denise, Artie is right. I went to Barnegat obviously to photo the harlys on a Sat. Having never been there, I got there Fri pm and was standing on the concrete boardwalk just looking at various waterfowl in the inlet and figuring out if I had enough courage to walk that jetty, when I heard a chaos. It was that gull holding his prize with several behind him looking to steal. I would like to think that fine skills got me that image, but really a good dose of luck was involved.
Thanks Grace, I'm sure Artie will be happy to be right:) Anytime you want someone to walk the jetty with let me know.
I guess that my memory still works for some things :) And I do love being right.

Denise, I will take you up on that! Been there twice, the first was by myself and it was icy. In the end I didn't even have to risk life and limb to get my best image of the trip (the gull). Second time, better conditions. But I do not think it's the best place to go by oneself, ever, if it can be avoided. Artie, Steve K?
