    Default The Wink

Another one from Pt Aransas, TX. This guy was literally begging all the fishermen for fish as he hanged around the jetty jumping in the water every now and then. I took some face profile shots but I liked the ‘wink’ in this one. I wish the left side was just a little brighter. Let me know what you think.

I like the concept and basic execution of this photo, Bhushan. Techs are good, BG is very nice. But I think you should have stopped down the lens (at least to f/8) to get more of the bird in focus.

I have to agree on the DOF, it would have been beter if the open eye was on the other side.

You did well with your composition here and you have lovely light. I would have liked to see more of bird in focus. You could easily have used ISO 400 thereby allowing for more DOF. It isn't often necessary to photograph birds at lower than ISO 400. By using an ISO of 400 or higher, it allows you more versatility with your bird photography.

I like the head feathers here and the lovely lovely. I would have preferred open eyes however.

Instead of ISO 200 at 1/1000 sec. at f/5.6 you could have gone with ISO 400 1/250 sec. at f/16 to sharpen the feathers of the bird's body. I do like the image design. Do you know how to make a selection?

Guys, thanks for looking and the advice. I agree with you a little DOF would have definitely added to the picture.

Thanks Marina. I agree with you and will be more careful next time. I have a few more with both eyes open.

Thanks a lot Artie. I really appreciate the tip. Can you please elaborate what you refer to here with selection? I am pretty new to quality bird photography and am eager to learn more.
