Lightroom Develop - Defaults

I would like to set some of the Lightroom Develop sliders as defaults. For example, I'd like to set Contrast to zero and Noise Reduction - Color to 50.

I'm afraid to use Develop-Set Default Savings-Update to Current Savings because I fear it will blow away all the Auto settings that Lightroom applies to each file.

How do I set some sliders as defaults but leave others to be autoset for each file?

I save those setting as a "User Preset". I have a different set of Presets for each camera. When I import the files I use that camera's User Preset under the "Develop Settings"

btw talking about pre-sets There are a lots of them you can download for free and some that cost very little

I have found on each bundle just a few useful the rest I throw out I think they are worth looking into !!!
