great sharp eye! and beautiful details in the blacks. I also really like the blurred background. The only thing I would have liked to see is the body closest to the camera to be more in focus. I really like the intensity and pose in this image.
am looking forward to hearing from others on the cropping.
The eye contact and HA is really nice here. The bg has a nice colour to it and is nicely uncluttered. You've exposed it really well. The head looks nice and sharp with lots of great details that would come up really nicely if you wanted a tighter crop.
Interesting portrait Ben. I like the idea of capturing the bird looking back. The image is nice and sharp where it counts.
There are several crops that might work here IMO. I think tighter on the face is the obvious move because you have to ask how much the body is contributing to the image. I can see a vertical and a horizontal working. Will be interested to see what you come up with. I would also lighten the face a little around and below the eye to bring it out of the shadow. I tried this with the dodge tool in Photoshop and the result looked good.
That repost really takes it over the top for me. I think you could crop this in many different ways but this really works! I am really drawn in to the eye/neck area because of the texture there - it's incredible to see it this close up.
Excellent exposure on the blacks...a very nice image overall!
