Ken, this bird is really beautiful and you've got some sky color here to go with it. Loved the light and comp. Bird looks a little soft..a round of USM might help.

Gorgeous bird. Great pose, BG, colors and perch. I actually like how the BG sky is graduated. Agree on a tad more sharpening.

Hi Ken, I think these birds are wonderful and yours looks great. I'm wondering if you replaced the background, as it looks like there are some strange artifacts on the perch in places? Maybe you just tidied up the perch?

Wonderful image Ken. I wouldn't mind seeing the bird higher in the frame. I kind of like the slightly soft look, though.

I like the typo in your lens description (500mm f$). Based on rumors of price increases, this may be the official name of the Canon 500mm Mark II! :)

I like the inquisitive posture and the perfect EXP. And I do not even hate the triple perch :) These guys usually choose to sit in horrific places. Overall I like it a lot.

Ken, good to see him in the open, as Artie states, they are normally in busy BG's. Super pose, and the colours look natural.

Thanks Stuart, one of my biggest bugbears is "electric" Lilac Breasted Rollers.

Thanks to everybody else, but most particularly the roller for sitting patiently and the sun for being in the right place.

Hi Ken, I find LBR to be pretty chilled at the side of the roads, especially in Kruger. Ive had some perched for ages, where Ive driven off. Off there next weekend for 5 days - cant wait.

The pose and look of the bird put it over the top for me.
