This young hippo was lazing around and yawned a few times. I managed on one set of images when he turned towards me! Canon 1D Mk 3 , 500 F4 with 1.4 Convertor , 1/1600 th At F5.6 ISO 400 on beanbag. Slight crop

Some very nice light on this one Andrew, with excellent detail and rich colour. Just wonder if the base of the image should fall on the last strongest reflection?

    Hey Andrew,
I actually like the profile pose! I'm with Steve on the reflection......would strengthen this IMO. Nicely done overall!

Absolutely love this capture. How expressive! I would crop from left and bottom. I think it would make the hippo and his behavior more powerful.

Love the angle this was taken on, the water and the reflection with the light makes one really nice photo of a hippo. Agree with the crop suggestion.

First Angry Hippo, now Lazy Hippo, what's next?;)

Great DOF for f/4 really makes the hippo stand out from the water BG. I do agree with the bottom crop suggestion.

Thanks all for the valued feedback. I was in two minds about the crop but agree with it would be a lot stronger!:D Robert, I have one that could be classed as hungry & angry hippo but the meal is not very taisty.....................:p

Super detail. I like the ripples emanating out from the head.

Very nice! Like how the head is just coming out of the water. Nice low angle as well.
