I am posting this just before going to a function today. These were shot at Forsythe reserve in NJ.
I have not done any adjustments other then some tweaking in Camera Raw and croping in Photoshop.

The question I have is about noise. I am using a Canon T2i which I feel and so does many other big time reviewers, is a great camera for the price. Being compared with the Canon 7d but 1/2 the price.

It is also noted to be very good with noise. But, I have to disagree, Unless I am doing something wrong. Please check the specs below and examine the pic carefully, I think you will see quite a bit of noise for shooting at ISO 200. I have already use the noise reducer in Photoshop Raw. Is the any way of reducing the noise ---IN the Camera us before fixing in PS or any of its plugins???

Hi Vince. I don't know anything about your camera body but my 2cents regarding this particular capture is - this is a really tough image to "expose to the right" of your histogram and not a fair test for your camera body IMO! I doubt that any camera body made could handle this range without having noise in the water! The birds look really good, the whites seem to have detail and are not blown, which is good and probably what you wanted, right? Well, properly exposing these white birds in strong light like this is going to under expose the dark water, which is in turn going to be noisey!:(. I think that the only "in camera" fix for this shot would be to shoot this same scene in low contrast light, like early morning, late evening or overcast, and even then, the birds are soooo white and the water is much darker! You would have to blow the whites to get the water "to the right" of the histogram!

Noise looks good to me here Vince. The ripples in the water are hiding it if it's there at all! Agree with Dan, in a contrasty image like this the dark areas have to be underexposed and that will accentuate the noise, even at low ISOs. BTW it's best not to reduce noise on your subject, so mask it off and perform noise reduction only on background and non-key image elements. Reducing luminance noise (i.e., not colour or chroma noise) can reduce or blur fine detail.

I think the comments about how good bodies are WRT noise are all relative. The 7D and the T2i are probably good performers in relation to cameras with similar sensor specs but probably not in comparison to 12mp full frame cameras.

To explore noise in your camera, photograph some blue skies at different ISOs. You will soon see at what ISO you body starts producing too much noise for your tastes.
