    Default Blue Jay

I was back in Ontario for the thanksgiving holiday and just couldn't resist trying for some Blue Jay shots. I hope you like this one perched on a Sumac tree.

    All the best!

Really like the colours and great DOF in this shot, I thought you would have used f8 at least before reading your exif!

Beautiful and full of great detail Glenn. The white balance of the image on the whole looks OK, but to my eye there is a very blue cast to the jay's throat / auriculars / supercilium feathers - a touch of the sponge tool or some localized desaturation might be considered.

Lovely colors and so sharp, Glenn. How in the world are you getting such a sharp image with the 400 f/5.6 at a SS of 1/200sec? Was the camera tripod-mounted? If not, you get the "steady hands" award!

Wonderful exposure on this bird....and it makes me wonder why I never create images of blue jays since they are beautiful creatures.

Really like the blues against the reds of the fall sumac.

The only issue I have is that the sumac itself is a little busy, especially toward the top, although I'm not convinced that it's a real issue given the brilliant colors of the subject itself.
