    Santa brought me a new 40D this year, and this shot is from my first outing with the new body. 500 F4L IS + 1.4TC, 1/200 at F8, ISO 400 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is my first post, and I'm looking forward to participating.

    Cool action shot Russ. I think this might be improved by cropping to move the bird's head more to the left in the frame. Just a thought....

    I like the raised feathers and action Good suggestion on the cropping The action is up front Also wish that light line was not intersecting the head !!! Excellent image !!!

    Thanks Jack. Tried that, but I missed the raised feathers on the bird's back. Maybe I need to rethink.

    Beautiful sharp image Russ and the feather action on the top is awesome. Nice timing and the fish in the beak is a real nice bonus !!! I think the cropping suggestion was a good option !
