If you ever get a chance, spend some time watching these guys fish -- they put on quite a show

Nice exposure and timing. I like the light reflections on the body. Good HA for a hunting pose as well. I think I would have just gone with the 500 without the tc here to show more of the bird, as it feels a little bit cut off here. You might try lightening the underwing a little. Looking forward to more of this guy!

Very interesting composition.Different and it works very well. Keeps the image from being static. Well done.

I have to say from the moment I saw the thumbnail I liked the crop. I would sharpen the head a little more and I see some remnants of PP to the right of the wing. These birds are a joy to watch fishing, esp when they are in breeding plumage.

Interesting crop that nicely shows this species' hunting behaviour. The eye looks quite intense! I think you need a bit more bottom and right...the small bit of leg is, well, too small IMO and too tight to the corner. Some PP artefacts visible bewteen wing and right edge need tidying-up.

Scott I like how the head and neck are framed by the right wing but I would have preferred a bit more of the bird to be visible.

I like the composition as well - as Joe pointed out, it conveys an impression of movement: one gets the feeling the bird has just jumped into the frame.

From the moment I saw the thumbnail I thought that the bird was in flight. Good job of attaining focus. A crop from our left would tighten it up nicely.
