Default Golden Plover on the tundra in Norway

This image was made during a trip to Norway earlier this year when I decided to venture inland a little to explore the large areas of tundra.

Not the best of experiences for the hire car but it did allow close range images of this Golden Plover in breeding plumage. This bird was very inquisitive and deliberatley approached, then circled the vehicle to satisfy its curiosity. Too close at times !

Nicely done in soft light and sharp with nice separation from the BKGR. A wider aperture might have made it look even better. Note to all: this is not either of our golden-plovers, it is European Golden-Plover. (I am pretty sure that that is the current and correct name.) A tad more contrast and SAT might give this one more pop.

I really like this image -- both for the technique described by Artie and for the excellent placement of this bird in its habitat. While we see lots of shorebirds here in Florida, its a treat to see just how well camouflaged they are in their breeding habitat. Muy bueno.

A great looking bird in it's breeding plumage! The lowe angle is nice, perhaps an even lower angle might've allowed for a cleaner bg?
