Dust storm looks just right for him. I like the crop and the centralized placement. The isolation of the scene is depicted well by using the square crop.

This is a delightful series Peter and we are all being rewarded by seeing these. I love the sense of space, heat, harshness and survival. The crop has worked well.
Hi Peter, I too have been enjoying this series, however I still prefer the previous one ;)
With all those folds of flesh around his/her knees it looks like it's going to take time to grow into that body.
BTW, Hilary where have you been hiding, hope to see some posts :D:D

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Peter, I really like the way the dust is flowing down the one side-it gives an artistic look to this.Lovely.
Peter,
I am with Steve on this one, I too prefer the first one. The Elephant certainly seems to having fun.
Lovely image. I agree with previous comments. This series is completely different than the elephant images we see. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to the entire series.
Cheers,
Sabyasachi
Great job! I love the motion created by the dust, and the centrally-focused composition complements this well. Thanks for sharing!
Peter - another strong image, the dust and details in the wrinkles are incredible, although I too prefer the earlier in the series with the 2nd oof ellie.
TFS,
Rachel
Steve, I've been here posting C&C as often as I can, especially when I see the thumbnails for images like these of Peter's. :)
As far as my images go, I've been posting my wildlife in OOTB as I am redefining the look I'm trying to achieve. It is a great testing ground over there. The wildlife forum is great BUT it is so bound by perceived rules that it doesn't allow for much experimentation (not talking just PP here). I will be back when I have time to look at some files that are suitable for posting here. Haven't deserted! :D
BTW, Peter … I'm looking at these Etosha ghosts with awe but not offering preferences as I think this image stands on its' own merits without comparison to the other one. Perhaps there could be a sub forum where we could post 3 or 4 images from a similar theme for people to say I prefer this to that for these reasons. Especially useful for those of us who have to decide on one image out of a series to enter into competitions.
I am loving this series Peter , Terrific image

Another fantastic image Peter. But I have to say I am not a big fan of square comp on this one. May be just me..
The first two pictures in this series are so different that they are tough to compare. Like the placing of the elephant in the frame. This one really depicts how dry this terrain really is and the conditions under which these animals must survive. Looking forward to the next 3.

I have not seen the other two but am captivated by the dust and the light and the magic of this image.

Hey Peter,
loving the angle and dust....and the crop completes it! This one works all around for me.....Have to go check the others now!!!![]()
Very nice Peter. With the angle of the grass and the way the dust cloud is flowing over the head, I'm wondering if it was as hot and windy as it appears? It certainly gives me that impression. I like the simple colors of this one as well.
it is a particular shoot!!!!!! It is the best elephant that I saw in Ethosha!
Great color and I love the dust coming off the elephant!
Thank you all for such lovely comments,
interesting observations about the two posts. I have to admit I love this one. I think Robert and Arthur summed it up beautifully in their comments.
Steve, it was very hot and so windy with dust and sand getting every where. There were times I could not see 20 meters in front of me... but made for awesome photography but really difficult conditions.
Hilary interesting idea about a forum for series/competitions I really struggle to choose images aswell.
big thanks again for comments, always appreciated...
