Bob, this is very inventive! Good eye for the unusual! I have a few suggestions for you...

First, clean up the white filaments and spots that show up on the black BG. You've also got a few areas where the black has seeped onto the green - you might try to mask those back out.

Because you've left the stem on, I'd suggest turning this vertical so the stem is in the right direction but then see if you can't angle it so it's coming in near a corner. Remember that in macros like this diagonal lines are almost always preferred over the straight horizontal or vertical ones...it helps draw the viewer's gaze across the entire image.

Interesting Bob, cuz I was photographing these in my garden only this week. Agree with previous. There are a couple of closed spaces where the black BG is not as dark. It suggests the BG was darkened and a couple of places were missed. I wonder if you rotated the image 90° CCW would not work?

I'm going to cast my vote against the 90 degree rotation. I think the stem coming from the side adds to the surreal nature of the image. If the stem were on the bottom, it becomes an obvious plant and takes away some of the interest. I do agree with Jules about cleaning up the background. I really like this image.
