    40D. 17-40L at 40mm and f/11. iso 160. 1/400s.

got this on Saturday in Arlington, TX. This place is called Village creek drying beds...a place I go often to for bird photography. Didn't get many good bird shots but I was more than happy to get this and a few more like this.

    All comments and critiques welcome.

Here's the horizontal view at 17mm...and then cropped some. cloned that pole which I have forgotten to do in the verical shot.

    Hey Kaustubh,
I love both!!! I do think the vert is stronger.......the curve of light is fantastic! f16-22 would have given you a stronger sunburst.....but not in any way a deal breaker......This works for me on all counts!

Hi Kaustubh, Both posts are interesting. The light plays beautifully on both. My preference is the horizontal. While it has a bit less impact it shows more of a sense of place and I like how the lighting is spread throughout the scene. Your placement of the tree is well handled.

I like both two but prefer the horizontal for the reasons Dave mentioned.

Loved both. Might have cropped the horizontal a little more on the left.

Lovely image with the light and the mists. Both are beautiful, the horizontal looks a bit more traditional but I find the vertical draws my eye more and I get a different sense of the scene. So I will vote for the vertical.

    Hi Kaustubh,

Both are lovely images. I prefer the horizontal a little more so. As Roman mentioned the f16 - 22 would have given you a nice sunburst with longer rays of the sun showing, but this most certainly works just as it is also. Well done!
