Photographed in Sandy Hook in the company of Anthony (my hubby), Denise Ippolito & Nick Palmieri. This is an HDR image consisting of three exposures at 1 stop intervals and tone mapped in the newly released Nik HDR s/w. I then converted it to b/w using Silver Efex and added a mask to hide the effect from the artist's canvas. I also softened the image a bit in PS CS5 and removed her backpack.

Susan, Nice conversion and the tone mapping looks great! The woman was very interesting and made a wonderful subject. I loved her hair. The masters touch is the colored canvas! Excellent!!!:)

    I love it!
Black and white with a color canvas really drives home the single minded focus of the artist. At least that is what I "feel"'.
IMO a little more room at the bottom would make this an even stronger image.

Oh, I forgot. I really like the diagonal running into the left corner.

    Congratulations on realizing your vision.

Hi Susan, Very creative! The eye really zooms in on the painting with the balance not only showing the artist/surroundings but creating a mood...nicely done!

Hey Sue...Love the mood and the masking done here! You might try adding a bit of canvas to the bottom and then using content aware in CS5

    Hi,
Thanks for your input and nice comments, I very much appreciate them. I originally felt it was a bit tight in the bottom and was somewhat bothered by it, but left it as was. Thanks for confirming my initial view on it. Will add some canvas (my own... not the artist's canvas that is) :D

Susan, I really love the look you've achieved with the HDR (how are you liking the Nik HDR?). The painted canvas really puts this over the top:)

Very nice work Susan. This one is pretty special in my opinion. Love the practical realization of the concept. Agree with the technical elements discussed above. Congratulations on a lovely image!
