This is one of the 5 cheetah cubs we had the privilege to spend some time with when they and their mother finished a springbok kill next to our vehicle in the Kalahari earlier this year.
He had taken one of the buck's legs aside and proceeded to strip-mine it. Taken in late-afternoon light which was coming from behind the cat.
Techs:
Canon 7D with 100-400mm
f5.6 @ 1/400 SS @ ISO-800
Morkel - I like the view down the back but wish the grass/weeds weren't blocking the face and meal. Also might like a little more space to the left if you have it.
this is just about full frame, shaved some off the top.
Rachel - I don't think he would have listened to me had I asked him to shift out behind the foliage, and this was the best view our vehicle had of him :)
Mork-man, I think that you could improve this a ton by lightening the face and taking some of the red out there as well. I do like the pose and the COMP. Filtered off-angled light light is a pain even just before sunset....
