    Bhushan;

    Nice dorsal view,wing spread, angle in frame, splashing water. I like the rock in the frame to provide an anchor to the image, more than just the isolated bird diving.
    Having said that, I would prefer the bird be a bit further away from the rock, from a compositional standpoint.
    If you don't mind a more square crop, I could see a crop in from the left about 20% of the free space.
    I could also see a version without the horizon included, just the water.

    Thanks for sharing! It is helpful to post at the full allowed size of 1024 wide. I don't think the small white border adds a lot here, because the blue separates well from the white background

    Randy, thanks for the tips. I thought about the square crop but thought the horizontal space in front of the bird would give it more space to fly into. I will try the square crop though and see how it works.
    I will try and post large resolution files.

    Bhushan:

    The reason I think you can get away with less space to the left is that the birds attention and direction of flight is directed downward. If he was flying straight and level to the left, would need more lead room. There is no hard and fast rule here, just what seems to look good to most viewers.

    Cheers

    Here is the square crop for this picture. Let me know if it works better.

    Bhushan:

    Because the subject is so much larger in the frame, it gives the image much more impact. I really do prefer this one to the original.

    cheers
