    Default In-Camera Rembrandt?

I created this slow shutter speed jiggle on the recent trip that Denise and I made to Yellowstone/Grand Teton. This one was created in the latter park with the hand held 70-700 f/2.8 L IS II lens (that I have fallen in love with...) ISO 50. Evaluative metering +1 stop (should have been plus more...) 1/5 sec. at f/9.

I am not much of an art student but I think that the colors and mood here are Rembrandt-like. Please feel free to correct me.

And do let me know what you like and do not like about the image. After publishing A Guide to Pleasing Blurs we are thinking of doing a Guide to Photographing Trees and Fall Color in a year or so :)

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I am a sucker for fall colors, Birches being some of the nicest in greens, yellow and oranges. I like the colors, amount of blur but not sure about the positioning. I might not have included the small tree with blue above it, but thats just me "trying not to be shy" :)..

Artie, Beautiful painterly look to this. I think if you put this on a canvas back it would add to the "Rembrandt" look. Fotosketcher offers a free program. Or you could use the canvas texture in PS. Personally I like the fotosketcher canvas back better.

Hi Artie, this is indeed a very artistic and painterly look. The blur gives it that nice soft feeling but still retains the notion of brush strokes. I agree with Paul on the framing, I might have panned the camera just a bit to the right with the trees leaning in that direction. Very pretty. Must have been a wonderful trip!

    Hey Artie,
I'm ok with the comp as presented.....I do like the subtle painting look. Only recommendation for BPN.....thin black border to give better seperation from BG. I had a blast doing these too and glad to see you and Denise made it home safe.

    Hi Arthur,

Catching up on all the posts I missed while I was away. Love this "jiggle" blur!

Artie, I love the colors and the composition. I really like the darker grasses on the rhs. The only thing that bothers me a little (a very little) is the largest aspen trunk. It seems a little too bright and slanted the wrong way (of course that's the way it was). I think toning it down a notch would make it a little less obvious. (Like Paul, trying to be shy;))

Thanks all for your suggestions. Here is a repost that addresses some of them. It hurt me to clone out the little tree on the left.... Best would have been to have panned wider and had more room on the right as some noted :) It hurts when you get the degree of jiggle just right but create a less than ideal COMP....

Hey Artie! I love the blurred tree look. I kind of got carried away with it last month while up in Montana, and will post a few of those images over the next few days.

I wanted to let you know that I went over to GoDaddy and purchased the rights to the "www.blursasart.com" URL, so you will have to pay me when you want to really branch out! Perhaps we could work a Galapagos tour trade or something?

    BTW - just kidding!!!!! ;););););)
