I took this backlit image earlier this evening. The snowy lost the fish once before gulping it down. Settings were -

    7D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 417mm
1/800 sec, f/8 Mode: Av Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1 2/3 ISO: 400

For pp, I used ACR/fill light to open up the shadows a bit. Cleaned lens flare spots and few hot pixels on the fish. Applied a light Topaz Denoise and usm on the final web version. Your c&c will be appreciated.

Well, I'm sure the HA will get a little talk up but I really like this image, Indranil! I even like the NR smoothness that runs through the image. I think my favorite part is the light poking straight through the inside of the bird's mouth! Wonderful!

Small suggestions for you...bring out the bird and fish's eyes a bit more...try lightening the shadows just a bit so we can get that eye contact a little better.

I like the transluecent effect on the fish and the birds head & breast feathers. Nice overall composition. Could use a liitle more detail in the shadows.

Love the translucent parts - Great HA on the fish - not too concerned about the HA on the bird in this case.
More detail in the bird would have been good.
    Keep em coming:)
