    Default Is this a Glossy or a White-faced Ibis

    This Ibis has been at a fish hatchery around Morehead, Ky. There is some discussion about which "flavor" of Ibis. Any suggestions?

    Lana,

    With that dark iris and dark blue-green gloss on the rump I would say Glossy. Could be a 1st winter but probably an adult in non-breeding plumage.

    Thanks, James. Several think it's a Glossy but others think that it's too difficult to tell or possibly even a hybrid. Most think it's a 1st winter.

    Lana,

    Most likely a first winter bird. The bill coloration also leads me to Glossy, but as you say these IDs are difficult.
