Gitzo CF tripod parts needed

My close to decade old Gitzo 1228 tripod has a problem: the bushing in the center column is crumbling on one end (and failed during an important shoot). Film to the rescue! I've repaired it by cutting up an old plastic film canister, making a 1/4-inch wide bushing the fits in the column taking up the space where the old bushing fell apart. I'm not sure how long it will last so I want to buy a replacement bushing. I've searched online and have not been able to find one. Does anyone know of a good place to get parts? The Gitzo web site is pretty pathetic. I started at gitzo.com, went to service and repair, searched for 1228 and no results, clicked on gitzo parts diagrams and it takes me back to gitzo.com. Some other gitzo links go back to the home page too. Amazing.

I agree the Gitzo site is cumbersome. We get requests for a lot of parts for older tripods and it's not always easy to find them.

For your 1228, I did find a pdf of a parts diagram, although not on Gitzo's site! Here it is: LINK

You mentioned that the bushing is for the center column. The bushings we stock are for the legs. According to the diagram and your description I think you need part # D220.19.

We could try and get that for you, or if you want to go straight to Gitzo, the diagram will help you identify the right part.
