This was taken on the first bridge from Key Biscayne at 7:00p.m. Shot with a Nikon D200 using a Nikkor 18-200mm VR f/3.5 - 5.6G. / focal length 200mm / exposure mode - manual
/ matrix metering / 1/3sec. - f/5.6 / exposure comp 0EV / ISO - 100 / WB set to auto / color mode sRGB / no tripod, shot hand held.
I'm not too happy with the vertical blue artifacts towards the right hand side; don't know what that is. Help....
No artifacts They are lights but from where? You could easily clone them out but do keep the original in case is need for evidence form other visitors !!!!!!
btw there is no ending to what you can do with these A long exposure will give some strange light effects but I do like the chosen speed Looks neat !!!
Hi William,
Yes I did have a UV filter on at the time. Never thought of that... As a matter of fact; I always have UV filters on all of my lenses for protection from scratches. I know there are many opinions on this subject. What do you recommend? People have told me that I get better light contrast and less sun flairs without the UV filter.
I also use a UV for protection, along with a lens hood. I had the same problem that you are showing with some night pictures and someone mentioned taking the UV off and sure enough that was my problem.
Hey Gus, nice shot. Like you say, they are a little distracting. I never thought what the other people are saying regarding the effects of the filter could cause this.
Anyways still a nice shot.
Let me know when you are planning on going again and maybe I can join you.
Regards,
Interesting image, Gus! Very impressive for handheld, but would love to see what you could have done with a tripod and a longer shutter speed. I don't use any UV filters on my lenses, as they really do tend to flair and cause issues like we can see here. Still, it's up to you and how careful you are with your equipment. See you around!
You need to change your logo on the lower right of your images (you don't have it on this one), there is a tripod there. You need a guy standing with a big lens in his hands! :D;)
