troy i would love this frame over to the previous horizontal you posted. the reason behind that is that this frame shows much of the habitat with more power of the bird and that dry thing on perch adds lot interest to me

Beautiful photograph! Owls are incredibly photogenic. I love how you captured him looking down, too often we see them straight on.

I didn't see the other one, but this is great. Nice soft light. Nice interest with the perch and great BG. Good HA. A very pleasing image!!

As with most owl shots, the eyes dominate the picture and the eyes standout here because there is nothing else in the photo to compete with the dark eyes. The environment sets the owl off well and that stare down pose is perfect for the setting -- nicely done

Troy, I liked the comp. too. If anything, just a tad off the bottom perhaps...but a minor point really. Loved the inclusion of habitat...terrific details and exposure. Steep angle working well because the owl is looking down.

Troy, this image really works better than the other in my opinion. Love the habitat included, the pose and the soft BG. Well done!

Love the interplay of sharp habitat foreground and soft OOF blur. Overall a most pleasing image, well done!
