    Dear all

Our group's trip to the Maasai Mara was a huge success. Some highlights include a Lioness hunting 3 warthog piglets in 30 minutes, a Cheetah mother of 6 successfully chase n hunt a gazelle on paradise plains, a 3000 strong herd of wildies and zeebs cross the croc infested mara river, spoted Jonathan Scott of bigcatDiaries too...all this n much much more. keep eye on this place ...you are in for a photo/video treat

    D300 , 300/f4 , f5.6 , ISO 200 ( :) I was so happy to use my fav ISO setting ) beanbag , cropped

All C & C are most welcome and much appreciated
    Harshad

Glad to hear that the trip delivered. When does the Mara not! ;)
Wonderful view straight down the lion's throat. Great.

    Harshad,

Sounds like you had an incredible time, the Mara is a good place to start.

Here is a repost with basically more contrast and a little warming.

I'm looking forward to all the posts of this trip. Sounds amazing. After looking down the throat of this cat and at his big canines, I love the whiskers.

Hi Harshad, great to see you posting a lion for a change.:D Liked the shot, the sharpness, detail, the BG. I would have liked one with the feet in too!
Looking forward to more from you

    Harshad,

THe down the throat look is great and Ken's repost is just right. I would have preferred either an image with the front feet in or a tighter crop from the chest up. As it is now, I can see the beginning of the front legs which does not give the lion a base in which to stand on. With a chest and head crop, you have a classic portrait pose.

Harshad - Love the look down the throat and Ken's repost takes it up a notch. I agree with Robert that it would be nice with a tighter crop too. Looking forward to seeing more from the trip.

Glad you had a lucrative trip Harshad and welcome to Africa.

Sadly the crop does not work for me for the reasons Robert has highlighted, however really looking forward to seeing more.

It might sound harsh, but I think we know each other too long and I am trying to be honest, but this is my personal POV so I will leave it with you. I am very happy to hear you had a some exceptional experiences and trust we will be enriched with your experiences.

glad to hear you had a fabulous trip and congrats on your first lions and cheetahs Harshad! :)

I agree on cropping tighter here, colours look fine in OP but I would give it a bit more "pop" with local contrast enhancement

Nice yawn. I agree with Robert about the legs. I can't see Ken's repost. You shifted over to the dark side again?

Love the repost and can't wait to see the rest of your posts from the trip. Although I am generally not a big fan of doing too much "gardening," I think the remaining branch is too distracting in this shot and should be removed or cropped out, as others have suggested. Cheers.
