    Upper Texas Coast

    D3, 300, ISO 640, f5, 1/2000.

I took my new 300 2.8 VR II out for testing and spent the last few days shooting Raptors as they migrate on the upper Texas Coast. I had over 10 species in the last few days. Many RAW images to go through.
I believe the blue sky shifted to Cyan when I posted this. I also cropped the sides for presentation on this forum.

Superb sharpness, angle, expression, catchlight, feather detail etc. Blue sky looks OK on my monitor. Overall a superb image, although perhaps a little less foreshortening of the near wing would make it even more superb.

I would love to have a shot like this in my files. Super sharp and I love the open beak calling. I guess this one wasn't coming to a water drip?;)

You must be really happy with your copy of the 300. Love the way the tail feathers are showing, the open beak, the eye angle, detail and crop. Agree with Richard on the near wing, but everything as we all know is not possible with every shot. I really like this one Alan and wish it was one of mine.
