Sid, you have outdone yourself with this capture. I am mesmerized by this capture, and the light and details are out of this world.

Are those tags that this bear has in his ears? Are all of the bears tagged?

THank you for sharing this gem.

I'm pretty fearless myself but your nuts ! Nicely framed and exposed image of a gorgeous animal. He looks like he has hearing aids.

It would have been interesting to see this with a slow shutter speed to give a silkier feel to the water.

Edit: Dang Marina is always a step ahead.

Thanks Mike. Beach was covered with ice no water.

    Sid,

This is really exceptional. The light on the bear and the darker BG makes this almost look 3D. Wonderful work.

Sid, Love the image the light on the bear is perfect and the pose against the BG gives the viewer the illusion that they are standing in front of the bear.

    Sid,

This just about as good as it gets

The light in all of your images is always great.

    How close were you?

Tags/collars are the curse of the wildlife photographer, but I understand the need for them in some cases.

In this case I think it would be quite difficult to remove them sucessfully.

    Hi Sid
The light is mind blowing! The animal is almost luminous! Well done!

Sid - Agree with the others, well done all around! How big would you say he is?

Totally awesome!!!! Just look at the size of the feet! I agree with the others - the light is truly amazing. I see that you were at 100mm with your lens. Yikes! How did you arrange to photograph these incedible animals?

Thanks Ken. I believe in one good image concept and dont mind waiting for good light.
I would say around 15 to 20 yards.

Standing up straight around 7 feet. Taking a wild guess on weight around 400 to 450 pounds.

There is enough info on the web with guide service phone numbers. I started my research around Jan by calling guides and working on logistics and finalized the trip some time in Sept.

This is a magnificent shot of the polarbear. Nice detail in his fur. And at 100mm,do you have a dead wish perhaps?
