Wood Ducks are back in force! I new after A few head dips he would do the wing flap! You can still see the water drops on his head.

It helps knowing what your subject will do next. A beautiful subject well captured. Nice wing position. Beak looks a little hot.

    Eric:
Perfect timing for this flap. Full forward position and I like seeing the tail up. Nice color in cheek patch and speculum. Drops on head a plus.

Whites on the bill and neck are always a challenge for this fellows, esp. if the light isn't very soft.

    Cheers

    Hi Eric:

You have some wonderful action here. It's nice to hear how you watched their behavior to learn when the action would happen. It's nice when it all falls together. I esp like the movement in the wing flap.

I brought your picture into PS. I think I might take a tad off the left and a little off the bottom (up to just over the first band of blue water on the right bottom). It puts a little more emphasis on your subject. I also added a touch of sharpening just to his head and it really made a difference.

Just a suggestions. I do like your capture very much as is also and congrats on this one.

Wow this is a beautiful photograph. I don't think I've ever seen these colors on the wood duck before. Nice capture, the lighting is quite perfect.

I agree with Marina's suggestions, but love the pose and colour palette here!

Very pretty subject with a good capture of an action pose. Shame he isn't turned a tiny bit more towards you.
