Today we finally got some sun...I got out with my new body, 300mm with 1.4tc, wanting to see if it worked better than on my D300..wow..is all I can say.
I've never been able to get this kind on sharpness with any teleconverter on any lens...
This little Chickadee is my first bird photographed with this camera, the background of fall leaves....

Thanks for comments....
Andrew no EC - compensation used, this is a new body.
After reading Ken Rockwells "Guide to D700" online, I was trying the various functions, White Balance preset "d-1", it adjusts the white balance to a preset/saved setting, just experimenting but I liked the resulting colors...
Ram..I agree about the tail, but lower shutter speed not much of an option...using a 420mm lens on chickadees, you need at least 1/800, these little guys are fast and always moving
Paul, this is beautiful. The exposure and sharpness is wonderful. Really really like the bg too. Wish for more DOF for the tail, but would be very happy with this one too.
