    Taken recently early in the morning. Here are the settings -

    Canon 40D + Sigma 50-500 F4-6.5 APO DG HSM
    ISO 400, 1/125 sec, 500mm at f8

    Used shadow/highlight to pull the details. Does this crop work? Your comments and feedback would be appreciated.

    Crop wise I would change a bit Would start at the bottom of the raised chest feathers Is the proportion that bothers me !!!

    I like the pose, head angle and bg !!! Could do some work on the beak and lighten just a bit !!! The entire image could go slightly brighter but do like it as presented for the mood !!!

    Thanks Al. I have gone square to fix the proportion issue. Here is the revised one...

    I like it better The other looked out of proportion? Not sure if it makes sense !!! Elegant bird 1!

    Nice light and BG. It needs some more sharpening and I would try a different crop.
