It's been a while since my last post. In between extremely busy couple of months I managed to break my camera :( It is fixed now :) I took this juv. Sanderling last weekend at Plum Island.
This is full frame without any cloning. I was lucky enough to have a relatively clean beach at Sandy Point.

    Ilija:

Nice to see you back. I wondered where you had been:)
The light here gives very nice separation from the BG. Nice catchlight, angle in frame.
The whites on the cheek and along the edge of the wing look just a bit lacking in detail. I suspect they aren't blown, but I might be tempted to see if I could tease out a bit more detail with a multiply or linear blend mode.

The small beach debris is fine, but I do find the little clump in front of the bird mildly distracting. Perhaps tone it down just a bit?

I also might consider just a small crop from right to decenter the bird a bit.

Again, good to see you back.

    Cheers

    Randy

Glad to hear you had your equipment issues remedied. That is always such a bummer.

You have a lovely subject and BG here. I think your bird is slightly centered and the whites do appear to be a tad hot in places but this is an easy fix. If my eyes are not fooling me, your picture could use a slight bit of CCW rotation.

I like the little pile of seaweed in front of the bird. I think it depicts the environment and I like that.

Thank you for that low angle! Something has to be done about those hot white spots, though. The debris I can live with, but if it were mine I'd go to work on the hot spots right away.

Agree with all of the above. In terms of comp. I think a little taken off the right hand side (5-10%) would be preferable too. I can see detail in the whites but perhaps a little less contrast may help too.

Welcome back Ilija, glad to see all is back to normal for you and with your gear fixed. I agree with the above, not much to add except wonderful image. Notice the perfect HA. Hard to think of in the field sometimes, but always good to keep comp in mind and move the camera a bit left or right to properly compose in-camera (e.g. avoid centred subject).

Thank you for the comments, good to be back...:)

Here I tried to get the image with least possible PP.
Lately I was trying to send images to contests and realized
that the rules are incredibly restrictive, including no contrast,
cropping or cloning changes. Not sure what to think about it:confused:
In any case I agree with all comments here, especially crop
Also now I see that it needs a bit of rotation too.

    Thanks again...

    Hey Ilija
Overall a very nice image IMO. Nice light, good pose and perfect HA. I like it as is.
