Given the harsh light and worse still our game viewing vehicle which had such small side windows it was difficult to see out of let alone poke a 500mm through this is not to bad, I hope?

Taken in Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania, 28th August 2010.

    EOS 1D MkIV

    500mm F4 IS hand-held

F6.3, ISO 800, 1/3200, EV +0.33 (Silly settings caused by failing to change after shooting into shaded area)

What an interesting looking bird. Considering your constraints, you did well. I think I might take a little off the foreground. I would be very upset if I went to see game and couldn't see out of the vehicle!

Considering what you had to work with here, you did well. He even gave you some head angle and a catchlight. The crop works well. I think if you took some off the bottom as suggested by Ian it would make it look as though you captured the bird from even a higher angle.

This is a cool looking bird BTW>
