Northern Nailtail Wallaby from Boodjamulla National Park in far NW Queensland. There are 3 Nailtail species in Australia and they all have a toenail at the end of their tail; nobody knows why!

I took this in January this year. Cropped a bit and cloned out some annoying twigs.

I can that this creature is quite curious about his photographer? It's nice to see an animal I have never seen before. I like his pose and the way he is looking at you inquisitively. Exposure looks good. I only wish for a less busy BG, but we can only make the best with what we have before us. Glad you got the tail in the picture. He almost looks as though he is leaning on his right knee with his elbow. Very interesting.

I've yet to see a nailtail, don't hang out down south. Nice, inquisitive pose. Would have like a slightly lower angle if possible. Like the tail and the ears. TFS

Thanks, the inquistive look is that it wasn't quite sure whether I was there or not, or what I was. They are very shy and I stalked it through the bushes until I could get into some sort of shooting position. Unfortunately it meant the animal was in a drainage line and I was a bit above. Too bad, they are difficult enough to get a clean shot of anyways. :)
