Hi Jay - agree looks a bit soft - how are you saving for web?? Bicubi Sharper??
Removing the tree's is a major job - I strive to get what I want in camera although sometimes it is not possible - depends on what your personal ethics are in regards to this.
Would like to see a repost that is not soft!
Hi Lance,
I just sharpen in PS, usually it works ok. I'll try it again. Most of the time I find it to be operator error...:)
Thanks, Jay
Jay, I don't think the tree in the BG is the main problem; I think it's that the head of the bird gets lost in the BG. I selected that top area and painted over it with a soft brush at about 30% opacity using one of the green shades that was already in that area. I then lightened and brightened it a bit to help it separate from the head of the bird.
I also toned down the mossy water at the bottom as it was too light, making the image feel a bit top heavy.
It's not a perfect fix but only presented to show you what you might be able to do in pp the next time you have an image like this.
As for the bird...he's beautiful! You did a very nice job capturing him in his environment.
Hi Julie,
Appreciate the feedback, and the PP tips for the BG. I'll have to practice on this. I totally missed the "lost head" until you pointed it out. Also, agree on overall color/light balance.
