I have been researching new CP filter. I have beeen using the cokin system and it does work well for holding multiple filter ND mostly but I am not happy with there polarizer. Was looking at the CP that allow more light transmission.
The cokin is a linear polarizer so the polarizing effect is not variable. Using a CP enables you to " allow more light transmission" but at the expense of a reduction in the polarizing effect. If you want to maximize the CP's polarizing capabilities the loss of light will be the same as the non variable linear which is appx. 2 stops. In other words you can't have your cake and eat it too.
I have had good luck with Heliopan filters over the years.

The Cokin is a Circular Polarizer P Series. I am looking at the Hoya Multi coated with the high transmission film to let in a bit more light. Heliopan has a very good reputation but my budget is under 200.00
