I used three Topaz filters on this one - first Denoise, then Clean, then adjust. These Nanday Conures (Black-hooded Parakeets) live wild in some areas of southern California.
I like the illustration look that I ended up with.

Beautiful composition, Kerry. I was in San Diego this week and saw these parakeets flying around! I love the effect of Topaz here. Perfect title for a clean image.
You got a great look going here, Kerry! The comp, colors and that BG all look fantastic!![]()
Very nice Kerry! I like that look. Nice starting image too!!
Kerry, I really like this. I think the combo of effects is killer.Colors and comp are nice also. :)
Kerry, Cool image. The parakeet really pops. The range of OOF elements/BG is also interesting. :)
Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I was very happy to get this image at full frame. It is much easier to compose in the camera (with a relatively short focal length) when you have such friendly subjects. These birds are very gregarious and seem to be comfortable with humans at close range. They are indigenous to South America and have been kept as pets for decades. I have read that they sometimes learn to speak just like parrots! :)
