    Default Coot in habitat

I was away for a few days on a family trip to Aspen. Still processing those images...will post some this week in Landscapes.

This one is from last winter that I think fits the project very well. 40D. 400f5.6L wide-open. iso 640. 1/400s. overcast conditions. bean bag support on ground.

Since the bird is looking straight at the camera, I decided to go with a central placement of the subject.

I like it, what a comical look! Maybe a little to much habitat right behind feet. Nice shot.

Loved that look bhai, nice details in the black, great angle too.. I like the habitat shown, but feel a little more habitat would add more punch.. (a very personnel choice)...

Kaustubh, Beautiful details and exposure. I like that you kept the bent reed on the right. Nicely done.:)

Whoa, you got some killer detail in those feet and the bird itself too. Love the head-on look very much. A cranky looking fella! The technical aspects are all super. :)

Very well done Kaustubh...a nicely balanced image (good choice of crop). Very whimsical look to this fella! Just a small OOF dark spot below the chest/belly to eliminate (IMO), but that's it!

kaus, those two red eyes stand out so well, and just love the direct eye contact. Excellent exposure on the coot, with good sharp detail.
