    Default Desert Collared Lizard

I found this colorful fellow on a brutally sunny day, which was not my preference. Still, he posed for me and the image survived the sun. Wupatki National Monument, Northern Arizona.

Given the strong sun this came out pretty well. Has been a long time since I have been to Wupatki. I like the positioning of the tail to the corner.

As Robert said the light looks difficult, but you have got a very good image, made even stronger by the inclusion of the entire tail.

Love these guys! A beautiful lizard. I like to use fill flash at about -2 stops in these situations but you have done well without it. Were you able to get in closer? In this kind of encounter, I can't resist filling the frame with the lizards body without the tail, (if the critter will allow!) as the colors and detail is so nice!

    Thanks, guys.

Dan, I posted a cropped version the really showed the body detail on another forum and everybody there was unhappy that I clipped the tail. But they are so long that you need a lot more digital real estate to include it. So, I was sure that that the experts here would not like it either, so I reworked the original fullframe.

Well, I do like seeing the full tail but it's kinda like shooting a snake at full body extension! You loose out on seeing all the great details of the closeup.
