I love the colors of the little blue heron as it is maturing. Shot this summer on Biscayne Bay, from the canoe.

Still water would have been preferable for this shot but you can't really control the water can you (especially if you were in a canoe):D Lovely colours and sharpness, I would suggest cropping out the lighter strip at top of frame or perhaps burning it a bit;)
I like the transitional plumage too, and the look of concentration as the heron hunts. I agree cropping a bit at top to eliminate that top band, and also at left. Perhaps a bit of CW rotation too. You've doing very well from your canoe Connie, and I bet you get lots of peace and tranquility from it too...
I like the bird, the SH, the perfect head angle, and I am fine with the way the water looks. I like the strange bustled pose too. The big distraction is the crud in the water above and behind the tail.
