Sorry I haven't been able to participate lately. I'm working on a new website and other things and have had little time. This image was taken last night. This band stallion was moving his mares away from a rival stallion. We had a great sunset to work with. I got as low as possible but still had slight merger with the legs and hillside. Off to the Tetons tommorow for my tour next week.

Sweet. The sunset colors were in just the right spot. Good self critique. I wish only that the bird's head were more square to the imaging sensor. Yeah, I know it's a horse :)

Hi Dale, this is a great shot. The bands of colour in the sky, your positioning of the horse against the strong colour, and the loose strands of the mane really make it one the best pictures I have seen in a while. Nothing for me not to like about this
Well done and TFS

Dale, I am with Artie here on the head angle. And it is not a bird centric-thing. For a silhouette, I feel it works best in most instances with the head parallel to the sensor plane.
For me this capture works as is. I can't tell whether the horse is looking at or away from you. My first thought was that the horse was looking off into the gorgeous sunset, and it sets a mood for me. It gives this capture a dreamy feeling esp with the flowing mane.
