    Canon 1Dmk3, Canon 300mmf2.8is, handheld. S/speed 1/400s at f4, iso640. Metering eval. Location Chitabe camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana. 7 August 2010, 17h40. Cropped from 10 to 6.3mp.
This young male leopard was moving around in some open woodland, just generally on the lookout for prey. He had noticed some birds that were beyond our vehicle and momentarily adopted this intent posture as he approached. Removed branch from bottom right side of pic with PS, processed in ACR6.2. There are some flies around his head. All c and c welcome
    cheers

Grant - another great shot. Looks like nice warm light and I love his intense stare. It looks slightly tilted to the left with a downward slope in the log, so I'm wondering if a very slight cw rotation would improve it, not that there's much need to improve.

    Rachel

I like it as noted above, esp. the sweet light. I would have preferred a bit more at the bottom of the frame as a border for the log.

Love the magic light and the low angle and the walking pose. Well done.

Thanks for all the comments. Rachel, I have noted comment about tilt. Artie, I have space in original below log, but it messy with dead grass...
Thanks again for looking and commenting. I got to spend more than a day watching this leopard, sometimes from quite far, and other times up close. During that time he killed and ate an African wild cat, and a vulture chick. He was totally oblivious of our presence and gave us good photo opportunities time and again.
    cheers for now

    Hi Grant

Indeed, sweet light and I like the placement of the leopard in the frame, however I am with Artie re space. If you were able to transpose the amount of space top to bottom I think you might have had a winner there Grant.

    Grant,

Great light and great pose. I would try reposting the wider crop with more at the bottom to see how it looks.
