Custom picture control to bring out dimmer stars, nr + some curves trickery

I think the theme is a hit :)

Hi Michael, I like your sky shot too. Orion is looking good up there on the right. You got a tiny bit of arc in the stars and planets due to the long exposure time. Blue is definitely a hit!

    Paul, Kerry,

Thanks for the comments... Kerry, the arc actually helped a lot to sort the stars from the noise :) ...

    Cheers,

Michael, I love anything to do with Half Dome! The night sky looks wonderful. I am not a fan of the right edge of the frame but it isn't a deal killer. The shade of blue is perfect.

    Indranil, Denise,

Greetings. Thanks much... Denise, I agree with the right edge didn't, see that at all in live view when I was taking this (knew it was there somewhere) but wanted to keep Orion.

Yosemite is great for night shots (the valley adds to light conservation policy in the park to provide very dark conditions). Unfortunately, when we were there, there was a pretty big fire on the valley rim so smoke cut down on the stars some.

This was taken during my first real try at star shots... I didn't get out early enough to get that many shots and was a bit disappointed that the sun was beginning to show itself already. This is my last shot before I packed it in (of course, probably my favorite).

    Thanks, all.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

    Nice image and application, Michael.

Love the sky. I was fortunate to view a lunar eclipse there on our visit and it is a perfect place for night photography. Your sky is great.

My only comment is small, I would like to have seen Half Dome be more prominent, but it is identifiable and it is your vision! ;) :D

Michael, I love the sky and the glow above Half Dome. I hope to go there someday:)
