Wow, beautiful setting. I love the subdued lighting, and how the vegetation swoops around and below the egret. Spotless breeding plumage and colours. I'd prefer a bit more room at right and there are some clipped whites, as posted, that would be worth revisiting in your favorite raw file converter. Overall well done and quite a joy to view.

I agree with Daniel; this is a wonderful image. I might also add a wee bit of space on the LHS because it appears that the longest display feather is cut off. I like how the BG makes the great egret pop. Well made.

I am fine with the framing. Ditto Dan and see the stuff on saving the whites in the ER. The stuff there is free and amazingly helpful. The only thing that bug me about this nice image is the bill just about touching the leaves....

Daniels words on the vegetation swooping around the image are spot on. A great framing effect. Whites are not a huge issue but worth looking back on. Suits the square format well I think;)

As others I do like the framing of the egret by the green vegetation. And the blue background nicely "offsets" the white and green foreground. The details in the raised feathers is exquisite. But I do feel the image to be busy and crowded. Also, my personal opinion re head angles is that it is okay if they're angled away from the photographer IF the image shows what they are focused on. But unfortunately this is not the case here making at least me wonder what is the Egret looking at and hence distracting from the image.

With the bird angled towards us I am fine with this head angle, in fact, I would judge it as perfect. If the bird's head was pointed in the same direction as the body is facing, we would not have such a nice look at the lores.

Joerg, what would you consider an improved head angle for this one?
