I hoped for more ss, but at this location, at certain angles, one loses the light, thus reducing ss. I liked the angle here, and interesting to see the difference in colour of the head and neck, compared to the wings. You can see where the wings form. Taken at a local birding spot in Pretoria last weekend.
Killer sharp with loverly BKGR. Great dorsal view of the far wing and the back. Head angle and spread tail are right on.

Super BG and pose, Stu. The thing that is confusing me with this image is that critical sharpness seems to be on primaries of the far wing. The eye looks sharp but the beak, cere and forehead all look a bit soft.
Really love the background on this great image. It gave me a practice plan for the weekends that I am stuck in the city - pigeons in the central squares - although I doubt I can get such a background there. I do agree the beak seems a bit soft, especially relative to the close sharp eye.
