    Default Tufted Puffin Portrait

Hard to get a clean background with these guys on cliffs.

seeing the techs this is simply amazing portrait you captured provided in condition you were. Apart from photography while processing if this were mine (I wish) i would enhance the bg brightening it and reducing green as the colors are pretty dull here.

    Chris:

A striking portrait. I like the play of light on the tuft, the great bill and sad eye. I am on my emergency back up laptop, so can't make critical call on colors.
    These fellows really have character.

    Cheers

Lovely portrait with a very handsome bird. Killer BG and pose. I don't know this species personally so don't know about the dark plumage on the side, it looks dull and soft. May be that is the way it is in real life.

Don't know much about this bird, but I love it...composition, with the head turn was great.

Great pose. I like the "combed back hair" which shows attitude. :p

I don't think the color of the bird is drab at all. I would select the background and fool around a bit with the color. It may look best as is, but being a bit lighter may help????

Perfect comp, and the orange bill stands out very nicely. I too like the "combed back hair" Not sure if flash was a possibility, but that would have made a nice difference on the eye and blacks IMO. Parts of the plumage seem smoothed out...perhaps by some NR?

Excellent portrait Chris! Great detail throughout most of the image, although there is a little loss of detail in some of the blacks. Good to see you posting images!
