The giraffes in Madikwe recently were in a feisty mood. This pair fought for close to 30 minutes on the bank of a water hole.

In this shot the defender anticipated the strike of the attacker perfectly

Great action shot. I think I would prefer a little more on the rhs if you have so as not to cut off the body of that giraffe. Agree a little more contrast might improve the image.

Great capture of an interesting symetrical moment. I agree with a little extra contrast.
Recently I was in Selous Game Reserve where I was shown an image by a French tourist of a Giraffe actually knocked out in a fight something I would dearly like to have seen, it got up later.

I have upped the contrast slightly and redid the crop as per Rachel

Hi Per, I like the repost more. Well done with this capture, nice composition, complimentary BG. I am aware of two serious fights that have happened between male giraffe that ended in fatalities here in Botswana where I work. Once a male was knocked down, the other male would keep knocking him down each time he tried to stand up. Eventually the grounded male died.
Really liked your pic, and wish I had something like that
    cheers

Great work capturing the exact decisive moment. I like the extra contrast in the repost but I prefer the originals crop better.

I agree that the extra contrast has improved this image.

I think that overall the crop is too tight, especially around the head.

Prefer the post with the added contrast but prefer the tighter crop of the first. For my taste, there is a bit too much space on the top of the repost. Absolutely love the action you have captured here. It is totally new to me, and I am always happy learning about animals' behaviors and seeing them in action. Thank you for sharing.
